Weed Control Cost Effectiveness
Two of the biggest landscaping concerns in the Village are water conservation and the use of safe products to control weeds and unwanted growth in common areas. The current product in use is safe and effective but expensive; staff is looking to reduce costs and find an equally effective but less costly alternative.
In the coming weeks you will see work being done in the turf area adjacent to 3486 Bahia Blanca West similar to the work done in the Spring of 2019. Staff will be conducting tests on safe herbicides with potential to replace the herbicide currently being used for weed control in the Village.
Specific areas will be designated for each formula being tested. Landscaping personnel will monitor the effectiveness of each product, and the final results will provide the data necessary to perform a cost analysis. This information will be used by the landscape committees of all the mutuals to better understand the financial impact of each alternative.
Fencing will be placed around the entrance to the area prior to work beginning.
