An Equestrian Center for All Horse Lovers

Our charming and unique equestrian facility offers boarding for resident-owned/lesson horses and a riding program (lessons/trail rides) for residents and their sponsored guests. In addition, riders and non-riders alike enjoy various events at our facility, including summer Saddle Club barbeques, the Harvest Hoedown, Easter at the Equestrian Center and horse shows.

In 1966, what is today’s Saddle Club of Laguna Woods Village formed to promote interest in horse and horsemanship, to encourage riding programs and to host social events for members and guests.

Today, the Equestrian Center continues to live up to its mission and, in fact, is the venue for the Village’s popular Easter egg hunt, delighting grandchildren and great grandchildren alike.

Advanced reservations are required for the riding program. All riders must be at least 10 years old and weigh no more than 200 pounds. Riders new to our program will be scheduled for a 25-minute assessment lesson to determine their ability to safely participate in lessons and/or trail rides. All participants in any horse-related activities must have a current annual waiver on file; waivers for those under age 18 must be signed by a parent or legal guardian. Helmets, boots and long pants are required for all riders (adults and youth). We have helmets and boots available for use at no cost. In addition to lessons and trail rides, horsemanship classes and clinics are offered throughout the year.

Hours

Business hours: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday
Tour hours: Wednesday and Thursday at 2 p.m.; Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 12:30 and 2 p.m.
Riding program: Wednesday through Sunday; contact the Equestrian Center office for lesson schedules.
Tours and riding program are closed Monday and Tuesday.

Help the Herd Fundraising

The Help the Herd fundraising program was created by the Village Community Fund to help ensure the Equestrian Center horses continue to thrive and be available for all residents to enjoy.

The Village Community Fund, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, was created as a way for residents, their family members, friends and other charitable institutions to support planned improvements with a donation and receive a charitable deduction.

Fees

Please note that all fees are subject to change. Rules and regulations governing the use of the facility are available at the Equestrian Center office.

Boarding

Boarding Facilities are available for resident-owned horses for a fee of $265 per month and for guest-owned horses for a fee of $325 per month.

Care Services

Horse Care: $35 per day
Turnout: $30 per month
Feeding Prepared Grain or Feed: $30 per month
Third Feeding Option: $30 per month
Hand Walking (10-15 minutes): $5 per occurrence
Lunge (15-20 minutes): $15 per occurrence
Blanketing or Fly Sheet On/Off: $60 per month

Feed

Alfalfa Hay: $51 per month, per feeding; $16 per bale/bag
Orchard Hay: $90 per month, per feeding; $29 per bale/bag
Teff Hay: $69 per month, per feeding; $20 per bale/bag
Timothy Hay: $99 per month, per feeding; $30 per bale/bag
Shavings are $7.50 per bag for residents and $8.50 per bag for guests.

Trailer Storage

The fee is $160 per year for residents and $240 per year for guests.

Trailering

Trailering services are available for resident-owned horses. The fee is $50 per hour + $0.58 per mile.

Private Lessons

Private lessons are 45 minutes long. Children must be at least 10 years old to ride in our lesson program.
