Celebrate Independence Day with local Fourth of July festivities. Here’s what’s going on beyond the Village gates.

Parades and Celebrations

The City of Laguna Niguel will host free Fourth of July celebrations on July 4 beginning at 5:30 p.m. Festivities include:

• Live music by 4 Alarm Band from 6 to 7 p.m.
• Patriotic giveaways and music from 7 to 8 p.m.
• American Legends movie from 8 to 8:30 p.m.
• American digital presentation from 8:30 to 8:45 p.m.

The 42nd Annual YMCA Virtual Run in the Parks takes place July 1 to 11. This annual event to celebrate Independence Day includes a half marathon (13.1 miles), a 10K (6.2 miles), a 5K (3.1 miles) and a Kids Race (1 mile). Race entry fees benefit the YMCA scholarship fund. The Aliso Viejo Fourth of July Community Parade & Celebration takes place Sunday, July 4, beginning with a community parade at 9 a.m. and community celebration from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Activities include carnival games, rock wall, giant slide, face painting and more. The event takes place at Aliso Viejo Ranch at 100 Park Avenue. For more information, contact Aliso Viejo Recreation & Community Services at 949-425-2550 or click here.

Fireworks Shows

The Fourth of July Fireworks show at Doheny State Beach in Dana Point begins on Sunday, July 4, at 9 p.m. Fireworks are shot from a barge on the water off the Doheny State Beach Coast.The event is located at 25300 Dana Point Harbor Drive in Dana Point. The Fourth of July Concert & Fireworks Show at the Lake Forest Sports Park takes place on Sunday, July 4, beginning at 6:30 p.m. with festivities and a concert, followed by fireworks at 9 p.m. This event is located at 28000 Rancho Parkway in Lake Forest. For more information, click here.

The Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular show in Mission Viejo takes place on Sunday, July 4, at 9 p.m. at the Marty Russo Youth Athletic Park located at 22056 Olympiad Road. For more information, click here.

The Newport Dunes July 4th Fest & Fireworks show takes place in Newport Beach with festivities that begin at 10 a.m. and a fireworks show at 9 p.m. The event is located at the Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort at 1131 Back Bay Drive in Newport Beach. For more information, click here.

The Fourth of July Elton John Tribute, Pacific Symphony & Fireworks show takes place on Sunday, July 4, at 8 p.m. at the FivePoint Amphitheatre located at 14800 Chinon in Irvine.
