Beware Unofficial Ballot Boxes

Recent reports of groups promoting unofficial ballot drop boxes not affiliated with county and state elections has prompted the Registrar of Voters to warn local voters.

In some instances, groups are promoting these ballot drop boxes as “official” or “secure,” the Registrar of Voters said in a press release, which includes locations of Orange County’s official ballot drop boxes, tips for voters and more.

Voters who want to return their ballot at a drop box should do so only at official County drop boxes. Official ballot drop boxes are clearly recognizable, designed to meet state standards for security and bear the official Orange County Elections logo and Orange County seal.

In Laguna Woods, residents can drop off November 3 national election ballots at city hall, which also will serve as an in-person vote center.

For County, State and National Elections

Ballots may be dropped off in the ballot drop box 24/7 through November 3. The vote center will be open October 30 through November 2 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and November 3 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

City hall is located at 24264 El Toro Road in Laguna Woods.

For Village Elections Only

Village residents note: Do not drop United board of directors ballots or Third No Mess Vote Yes ballots at Laguna Woods city hall. Village election ballots may be dropped off outside the front of the Community Center at 24351 El Toro Road. A clearly-labeled blue metal ballot box is located on seating directly across from the Community Center doors.
