Get Your Flu Shot!

The Orange County Health Care Agency (OCHCA) is anticipating the potentially devastating effects of a double whammy of influenza and COVID-19 cases hitting in the fall and winter months and urges everyone to get a flu shot.

“Even if you never get a flu shot, it’s absolutely vital that you take this important step to make sure we don’t overburden our health system,” said Orange County Board of Supervisors Chairwoman Michelle Steel, Second District.

There are four ways to get a flu shot:

  1. If you have health insurance, you can get a flu shot from your medical provider. It is usually free.

2.     Find a local clinic that provides flu vaccine.

3.     Visit the HealthMap Vaccine Finder to find a pharmacy that offers flu vaccine. Check with your health plan to see if it’s covered.

4.     If you don’t have a doctor or health insurance, the County of Orange will offer free drive-thru and mobile flu vaccine at Family Health Clinics by appointment only from 8 to 11:30 a.m. and from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Call 800-914-4887 for an appointment.

“The similarities in symptoms between the flu and COVID-19 are startling,” said Fifth District Supervisor Lisa Bartlett. “In order to mitigate the spread of the flu, I urge people to read these materials and get the shot as soon as possible!”
