Tennis Center Reopens May 18
Monday, May 18, the Laguna Woods Village Tennis Center will reopen on a conditional basis, Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to noon.
VMS is dedicated to safeguarding our community throughout the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. Tennis operations will follow a new policy that allows for limited recreational access and complies with federal, state and county guidance; other applicable rules and regulations; and United States Tennis Association (USTA) facility, programming and player recommendations.
The plan takes effect today, and reservations can be made for Monday, May 18 and beyond. At this time, play is restricted to Village residents only.
The comprehensive plan also incorporates identified health and safety standards to protect tennis players and staff that include:
- Strict adherence to social distancing;
- Elimination of “touch points” throughout the Tennis Center;
- Play by advance reservation only—no walk-ons permitted;
- Scheduling that prevents congregations of individuals; and
- Singles play only.
Tennis Center hours may be expanded in the future if players adhere to this procedure, as well as state, county and other applicable safety requirements. Doubles play may be permitted in the future when supported by health and safety standards and USTA guidelines.
Access to the Tennis Center is available by golf cart only through Gate 16 and the golf path to the south. For security purposes, Gate 16 is closed to vehicular traffic during the COVID-19 crisis.
Pickleball and paddle tennis remain closed, as these two amenities are not on the California State list of approved outdoor activities.

We look forward to offering residents the opportunity to enjoy tennis by reopening this key amenity.
